Argument 1:
Firstly, if you don’t wear a hat, you will get sunburn ant the sunburn is painful.
Argument 2:
Secondly, sunburn could lead to skin cancer. Sunburn can lead to health problems later in life. Many older people suffer from skin cancer which can kill them.
Reinforcement of position statement:
In my opinion all school students should wear hats.

Example of Exposition 2

Generic Structure Text
Thesis     Do you know if you are too fat, you may have serious problems with your health? A group of doctors wrote a report about some of the effects of too much fat.
Arguments        One important effect is on the heart. If you are fat, your heart has to work harder. This may lead to a heart attack; or it may lead to other heart problem.

In addition, extra fat can also change the amount of sugar in your blood. This can cause serious disease such as diabetes.

Furthermore high blood pressure is another possible result of being fat.

Reiteration/Conclusion       More studies are needed about all these problems. But one thing is clear, extra fat may make your life shorter.

OPINIONS AND THOUGHTS

                            Opinions

An opinion is the way you feel or think about something. Our opinion about something or someone is based on our perspective. Whenever we give or express our opinion, it is important to give reasoning or an example to support our opinion.

We can use collocations to express opinions, for example strong argument, strong criticism, strong denial, strong opinion, strong resistance, quite strongly.

Let's look at the sentence structure to express opinions

• Expressions
Opinions can be expressed in the ways given below.

  Personal Point Of View
  • In my opinion...
  • What i mean is...
  • In my humble opinion..
  • I think...
 General Point Of View
  • Most people don't agree...
  • Almost everyone...
  • Some people say that...
Agreeing with an Opinion
  • Of course
  • This is absolutely right
  • I agree with this opinion
Disagreeing with an Opinion
  • I am sorry, i don't agree with you
  • I am not sure
  • I don't agree with you
Example dialogue :

Azzah : I want to buy a new phone, but the options out there are overwhelming me. Any advice?

Wahyu : You can just buy the one like mine. You don’t need much for a phone, do you?

Azzah : Not really. Can I see yours?

Wahyu : Pretty compact even if it’s 5 inch. The interface is also user friendly. 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory.
Azzah : What do you think of it? Is it okay?

Wahyu : For me, it’s enough, since I only use it for texting, chatting, checking e-mails, and making calls. I rarely use it for anything other than those.

Azzah : I don’t think it would either. When did you buy this phone of yours?

Wahyu : Around three weeks ago, I guess.

Azzah : Then the price wouldn’t be so different now. Do you think the budget fit me?

Wahyu : I think so. It’s pretty cheap compared to any other brand with the exact same feature. Trust me.

Azzah : Yea you right. I’ll look for it. Thanks, Wahyu.

From dialogue above we can see the expressions of asking opinion, giving opinion and agreeing an opinion:
• What do you think of it? Is it okay? (asking opinion)
• For me, it’s enough, since I only use it for texting, chatting, checking e-mails, and making calls. I rarely use it for anything other than those. (giving opinion)

CHAPTER 15 :YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND

GROUP 14 : Imel Ahmarita Meliana
                      Aliffia Anasyahtira

OPENING : BERKIBARLAH BENDERAKU

YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND by JAMES TAYLOR

When you're down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, oh yeah baby, to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you've got to do is call
And I'll be there, ye, ye, ye
You've got a friend
If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep you head together
And call my name out loud now
Soon you'll hear me knocking at you door
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, oh yes I will, to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall, ye
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, ye, ye, yeah
Ain't it good to know that you've got a friend
When people can be so cold
They'll hurt you, and desert you
And take your soul if you let them, oh yeah, don't you let 'em now
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again, oh baby, don't you know
Winter, spring, summer or fall
Hey now, all you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yes I will
You've got a friend
You've got a friend, yeah
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend
